The Brush Project

Every year I donate a used paint brush to a good cause in Chicago called The Brush Project. Organized by David Van Alphen at Rotofugi Gallery, the proceeds go to a charity called Gigi's Playhouse which is a down syndrome awareness center. This year I've also donated a framed original painting to sweeten the deal. For those of you who've been looking for affordable art that also supports a good cause please consider a bid on my brush or many of the other brushes available on Ebay.

Summer Sipping

It's been a really busy art season. Thanks to everyone who've purchased artwork this year, you've really helped keep this train rolling. I'm looking forward to a much needed break and vacation this summer, my first in many years. I'll be back in the studio in September to start building my solo show coming up at Harold Golen Gallery in May 2010. In the meantime there is still a good selection of artwork at Rotofugi Gallery, there are also a few pieces remaining on the Cycloptic site. Enjoy your summer and see you in the fall.

Rotten Rudy Rides Again

I had a few people at the Victoria scooter rally this year ask about Rotten Rudy, the fedora wearing skull-head I designed in the mid 90's. I used to hand him out at rally's in hope that people would stick them on their Vespa's or Lambrettas and send me photos. Over the years I collected quite a few photos of Rotten Rudy on all sorts of vehicles in North America and Europe. So when I was asked to be apart of the Los Vesparados show in Minneapolis this year I decided to resurected Rudy for one last ride.

Los Vesparados opens June 13th, 2009 at 6:00pm and shows for the weekend. It will be in the gallery on the third floor of the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE in Minneapolis.

Poly Pop Living

Poly Pop Living is apart of the Hukilau 2009 events in Ft. Lauderdale Florida this summer. The show is curated by Harold Golen and features 21 artists from around the globe. Tahitian Green is my latest piece and will be on display June 11th. I've returned to the bright contrasty colours from a few years back. I've also changed my medium this season, I've decided to continue painting on the cradled canvas that I was using during the MINI show; without frames or glass. There have been quite a few requests for this over the years and I've made this change for all upcoming shows. I hope you enjoy this piece and bottoms up!

Show Location: BAHIA CABANA (in the Penthouse), 3001 Harbor Drive (A1A), Ft. Lauderdale Florida.
Opening Night Reception: Thursday, June 11th, 6pm-7:30pm

More Brush Strokes, Less Coffee

Two things I wanted to accomplish this spring. Update my website, and stop drinking so much coffee. Well, the CYCLOPTIC site is finished and it took a lot of damn coffee. So enjoy the new look, it's a work in progress and bottoms up.

GLASSEYES

I'm showing some of the remaining 6" paintings on March 27, 2009 at Joe Blow Glassworks in Vancouver. The show is a fundraiser for Jeff Burnette who's glass shop is stuggling in these economic times. I think if Jeff closed his doors on this East Side institution it would be a huge loss to the community. Come out and show your support for Jeff and his work. A portion of the sales of my work will be donated to Joe Blow Glassworks.

Opening reception Friday March 27, 6:30pm
On display until March 29 Noon - 5pm

MINI - 2009

Happy New Year! The MINI show is coming up quickly and I’ve been very busy in the capsule studio this season. Been getting a lot of requests for previews but I won’t have them ready for a few weeks. If you want to meet me I’ll be in Chicago on Friday, February 6th, 2009 at Rotofugi Designer Toy Store & Gallery. This is my second US solo show and probably the most challenging ever. There will be 101 six inch acrylic paintings available all under $200. All pieces are painted on cradled wood and unframed. I will probably never do this again so this would be a really good chance to get an original piece of work at these amazing prices.

Rotofugi
is located at 1953-55 W. Chicago Ave. Chicago, IL 60622. For More Info call 312.491.9501
