The Cheaper Show NO. 8
The Promise - Mark Atomos Pilon
On June 21st, 2008, the eighth installment of The Cheaper Show series will take place in the Gastown district of Vancouver, BC.
150 multi-disciplined international artists presenting 300 pieces of art, each priced at $200 for one night only. Far from being an 'art sale,' each exhibiting artist consciously makes a sacrifice by selling their work for less than its potential value. This creates united support for the event, the arts community, and an opportunity for this show to take place in an environment that is accessible to everyone. In turn, many walk away with sales, exposure, commissions and gallery representation, as well as having an opportunity to connect with peers on an even playing field.
ALL ART SELLS FOR $200 (May only be purchased in person only)
ADMISSION IS FREE
ONE NIGHT ONLY! Saturday, June 21, 2008 7pm–Midnight
142 Water Street (old Storyeum building) Vancouver BC

I'll be showing some new figure paintings at the relocated Harold Golen Gallery in Miami. I'll be showing with Attaboy, Annie Owens and Mark Mothersbaugh. Show Harold some support and check out his site, send him some words, and buy some art. This show opens Saturday, March 8th, 2008. 7-11pm. 314 NW 24th Street, Miami (Wynwood Art District). The Brush Project
I'm auctioning off one of my oldest and most reliable brushes for charity through the Brush Project in Chicago. You can have a look at all of the brushes on ebay as of today. View all of the brushes here. Good Luck.
DvA Gallery will be auctioning off original artists brushes that have been used in creating their artwork to help raise money for the efforts of Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. The brushes will be signed by the artists and framed in shadow boxes then put on display at DvA Gallery on Saturday, July 21st. The auction will start Friday the 20th and will go on for 7 days. Each brush comes with a Certificate of Authenticity!
Americans for the Arts advocates for policy developments that increase the visibility and stability of arts education in the nation. For many of America's youth, public schools serve as the major provider of formalized arts instruction. Therefore, it is critical that the arts maintain their status as a core academic subject within a school district's educational mission and that they are adequately funded. Because the visual arts are vital to the development of our children and our communities, Americans for the Arts strives to provide and secure more resources and support for arts education.

Merry Christmas from outer space!
I'm currently busy doing some commissions and getting ready for a batch of 2007 shows. I'm sure at some point I'll be taking a break to hang out with the family so if I don't respond quickly to your requests it just means the nog hasn't worn off yet or I can't get off the Wii. There is a lot coming up, new website, new products, new prints and paintings. Merry Christmas from outer space!
Creative Director

I've been in publishing for 15 years. I've been a production manager, an art director, an ad designer, an assistant art director and as of tomorrow I'll be a co-creative director of the Georgia Straight Magazine. I'm sharing this title with Janet McDonald who's been the assistant art director here at the GS and a good friend for many years.
It's kind of a strange move for me. I've been here for 10 years and I never saw myself in this position. My career focus was always on the illustration and painting. The Straight was just a great place to work while I realised those dreams. It's not that I plan on slowing down with the art. I just wonder how this will change my late-night work and coffee habits. Anyway, I love a big challenge and I'm sure this will be an interesting chapter in my life. I'm a lover of all things design and I'm going to try to put out the best product possible.
